CP504 — Final Notice Before Levy
9/10 — CriticalDeadline: 30 days — IRS can levy after this
Final notice before the IRS can levy (seize) your state tax refund or other assets.
What this means
You've already received CP14, CP501, CP503 and haven't resolved the balance. The IRS can now levy your state refund and warn about bank/wage levies.
What to do
- 01Do NOT ignore this
- 02Pay the balance if possible (irs.gov/payments)
- 03Can't pay: apply for installment agreement immediately
- 04Experiencing hardship: contact IRS for Currently Not Collectible status
- 05Consider Taxpayer Advocate Service (1-877-777-4778)
If you ignore this
The IRS will seize your state refund and may levy bank accounts, garnish wages (up to 85% of Social Security), and file a federal tax lien.
Consider professional help
Given the severity, consult a tax professional or enrolled agent. Taxpayer Advocate Service (1-877-777-4778) is free.
